ATP

ATP USA Products

In 1990, the United States Food and Drug Administration withdrew its approval of the use of Gentian Violet in poultry feeds.  This was a product that represented 43% of the total sales of ATP.  Gentian Violet was effective against Candida (a yeast) which causes crop mycosis in poultry.  A search began to find an alternative product.

Working with universities, state laboratories and private laboratories, a new product was developed—SEM—comprised entirely of G.R.A.S. ingredients (Generally Regarded As Safe).  In addition to being an excellent replacement product for Gentian Violet, SEM showed definite signs of being effective against the following organisms:  E. coli, Salmonella, Aspergillus, Candida, Streptococcus beta, Pseudomonas, Pasteurella Multocida, and Klebsiella.

Application was made for the approval of SEM through the U. S. Food and Drug Administration as a feed preservative and was granted in 1994 and 1996.  Since the approval, ATP is now marketing SEM under the labels of SEM-Liquid, SEM-Pak, SEM Sow Pak, and SEM Horse Pak.

Another product being marketed by ATP is SE-ZYME, an enzyme product improving feed conversion by 15-20 points in swine and 10-15 points in poultry.  Tests are still being done by integrated broiler producers, Auburn University, Texas A&M University, and private research facilities.
